What are the SEO Best Practices for you.

Seo is the main part of any  internet marketing strategy. It’s essential that you are in a position to put your articles or your advertisements before your potential customers and that can only take place if they are listed on search page results. Listed here are most of the  SEO best practices that you need to  remember:

Search engines  mainly Google  always changes its algorithm to give quality to its search results and penalize the sites doing wrong things. So as a web site owner or SEO expert you have to keep updated yourself  in changing algo of search engines.  Google or other search engines like yahoo, bing who are main players never reveal search engine criteria or changing algorithm. Google only gives some hints and you have to read big SEO blogs to know what’s happening.  SEO professionals normally report the modifications that they observe and precisely how it has an effect on page ranking. I would suggest joining with related RSS feeds so that you  may not miss any valuable article.

You have to face one thing SEO is a confusing thing but another thing its not a rocket science that you can’t master. You can only learn from your mistakes and experiments.

Search engine optimization is not a set it up and neglect proposition. It’s a repetitive procedure. You do what you could, appraise the final results, and go on to improve. You can’t improve a site’s ranking in just few days or a month. You have to continuously do your good efforts in order to get result otherwise your competitor sites can defeat you in this link building war.

Thankfully the basics are relatively constant and creating a solid groundwork in SEO understanding will carry you much further that wanting to take advantage of the strategy .

Having said that, SEO could be generally classified into 5 different factors:

The main thing is Keyword research

Then comes Search engine friendly site development

3rd is On-page SEO

4th is Link Building

Finally Analytics

We will discuss about keyword research which is very important factor before you create any blog or register a domain.

You have to find out suitable keywords for which you will target your blog, the main criteria is search volume and competition level, both you can get from google ad word keyword tool.  If a keyword is getting very less  search volume or low global monthly searches  like below 1000 then you can’t get much benefit from it. Similarly if a keyword is getting huge search but stiff competition  then also you will have to do lots of link building and SEO efforts to get ranking for that keyword. So wisely select your keyword to get maximum benefit. I’ll discuss details about it in my next article.

2nd Part is Search engine friendly site development

Search engines will need to view written content to be able to list pages in their huge keyword-based indices. Additionally they must have access to a crawlable link structure – one that allows their bots read the pathways of a web site – to be able to find all of the web pages on a web site. Thousands of sites make the  blunder of hiding or obfuscating their navigation in such a way that search engines can’t access, thus affecting their ability to get web pages listed in the search engines’ indices.

Another important thing is to avoid fancy flash sites. Google don’t love flash sites. Their Bots  can’t read flash content. If you are using flash sites then try to mix with some text.

The next part is ON-page SEO

Before doing off page link building try to correct your on page SEO mistakes. On page SEO is optimizing your pages to make it search engine friendly. Make sure your contents are unique. Meta, title tags are written correctly, articles are keyword based .

Below are some ON page SEO guidelines which can help you.

  • Title of a post should contain your keyword and begin with the keyword.
  • Title should not be more than 66 characters.
  • Permalink should contain your primary keyword.
  • Description meta tag contains upto 160 characters.
  • Proper use of h1,h2,h3 tag
  • These three tags should contain your keyword.
  • Content should have 2 to 5% keyword density and minimum 300 words length.
  • Image should contain keyword in ALt attributes.

These above things are building blocks of ON page SEO.

4th part is off page seo or link building .

This is another important aspect of SEO.

The main things for your link building approach should be Social Book marking,  Social Media Submissions,  Article marketing ,  Guest Blogging, Video submissions etc.

You have to do these wisely and with proper planning to get maximum benefit.

Final thing is Analytics or google analytics.

This is for measuring your site ‘s traffic performance. Every webmaster should use analytics to track their traffic behavior. I’ll write details about analytics on my next articles.

Hope these above things will help you.
