For the heavy users the big problem with Google+ has always been the heavy volume of content from a small subpopulation of users. One of your friends could hog a whole lot of your feeds. This new feature allows you to set volume per circle, and that would mean the world news circles can have lesser volume than your family and friends.

While you can post photos in any network, there was never really a photo editing application in any one of them. So, if you wanted to change a photo, say crop them or reduce the blur you have to remove the photo, edit it in your PC and reupload it. This is similar to Twitter list feature. Circles are users grouped together for sharing common characteristics. You could create a circle each for photographers, tech bloggers and famous CEOs for example. Apart from creating the circles, the new feature also enables you to share the circles with your friends, that would enable them to directly follow the group of users you have curated.
